Cruelty Free Beauty – Mascara | PointePeople

My eyelashes are naturally blonde. As a teenager, I used to spend so much time layering on drug store very black mascara in the hopes of acquiring lush black lashes. As an adult, I’ve grown to love my blonde lashes, they are long and full, and a light coat of dark brown or a mild black mascara is perfect for day to day wear. Ladies, and gents, there’s a lesson to be learned here - embrace your natural beauty!

Since transitioning to a fully vegan lifestyle, I decided to purge my make-up bag of toxic, cruel, and not environmentally friendly products. The first to go, my beloved designer mascara. It was toxic, and shocker, tested on animals! No good. So I began a yearlong hunt for the perfect vegan friendly mascara and am excited to share with you two of my favorite. Perfect for all complexions and skin tones.

As performers, we know how important it is to have bold make-up to stand out on stage, but all that aside, who doesn’t love a little lash glam for an average day? I know I do! My first vegan friendly, mineral based, nontoxic, and eco-friendly mascara is Pacifica’s Aquarian Gaze Water-Resistant Lash Mineral Mascara in Abyss (black). It also comes in a fun and flirty Deep (blue). This amazing mascara lengthens and nourishes lashes while building volume. Not to mention it is waterproof and can withstand sweaty rehearsals and hot summer days. You can also layer it on for thicker lusher lashes. Plus, its affordable!

My second vegan mascara fave is by cult brand Tarte. Tarte, although not a fully vegan cosmetic brand, has many cruelty free and vegan products that really are worth a try. Although a bit more expensive than Pacifica’s, The Lights, Camera Lashes 4-in-1 mascara is an excellent mascara to try for those new to vegan cosmetics. It doesn’t flake, goes on smooth, and provides volume and decent length. The black is rich, but not too dark. I wish it was waterproof, but otherwise it is fabulous!

Transitioning to cruelty free and vegan cosmetics is easy. There are simply so many wonderful options on the market. They are mostly free of toxic chemicals and provide beautiful results, for on and off the stage.

As always, keep dancing!
