What I Drank to Get Me Through the Flu

*PSA: This year’s flu season was horrifying; please take necessary precautions to stay safe.

This winter, I got sick with the flu for two weeks, and truth be told I had no desire to eat or drink anything. I couldn’t get out of bed for long enough to have a meal, anyway.

But, there was one recipe that I got from my mom that at least got me to stop coughing. It doesn’t have a name, but I called it the Flu Killer.

Mix some orange juice, fresh lemon juice, and a tiny bit of crushed garlic, ginger, and a dash of turmeric in a glass. Stir it up, and down it as quickly as you can.

I’ll be honest, it doesn’t taste the best. But, one glass a day was enough to keep me awake and stop me from hacking a lung out. Drinking it also boosted my vitamin C, and opened up my appetite so that I could have some soup.

Give this drink a try the next time you have a cold or feel a nasty flu coming on. It won’t cure you, but it will definitely help. Take my mom’s word for it--and mine.
